Coimbatore gets first air conditioned bus shelter

Coimbatore has got its first air-conditioned bus shelter, providing relief to passengers waiting for buses amid rising summer temperatures. Coimbatore, the second largest city in Tamil Nadu, has been witnessing rapid growth in industries and educational institutions, leading to a steady increase in population. In view of this growth, the district administration has been undertaking various infrastructure development works.
With the onset of summer and increasing heat, commuters waiting at bus stops have been facing difficulties. To address this issue, an air-conditioned bus shelter has been set up near the Sulur bus stand through the joint efforts of the Sulur Town Panchayat and a private hospital. The facility has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 12 lakh and is said to be the first air-conditioned bus shelter in Coimbatore. Local residents said the facility would allow passengers to sit comfortably in a cool environment while waiting for their buses and board them conveniently when they arrive.
