Coimbatore Institute of Technology celebrated its Institute Day in a grand ceremony on Wednesday, with Gowri Kailasam, Chief Executive Officer of SLD and LMCI at Rane (Madras) Limited and a distinguished alumna, attending as the chief guest.
The function was presided over by Managing Trustee R Santossh. Principal A Rajeswari delivered the welcome address.
Felicitation addresses were given by Vishnu Nischal Rajkumar, Director of Admissions, and N R Alamelu, Chief Academic Officer, highlighting the institution’s recent academic achievements.
Addressing the gathering, Gowri Kailasam stressed that India’s vision of becoming a 30 trillion dollar economy by 2047 requires active participation of women in the workforce.
She noted that while female enrolment in higher education remains high, representation in industry continues to lag, calling for collective efforts to bridge the gap.
Describing her return to the institution as a heartfelt homecoming, she underlined the importance of discipline, character building and continuous learning for professional success.

Drawing from her career across engineering domains and industry roles, she emphasised that learning remains a lifelong and collaborative process.
She also highlighted the need for upskilling in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics, stating that enhancing productivity through technological adaptability is essential for national growth.
In his address, R Santossh reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to holistic development and academic excellence. Reflecting on his professional experience, he shared insights on resilience and leadership.
He announced plans to establish advanced startup incubation facilities to support student-led innovations and appreciated the recent alumni expo that showcased creativity and
entrepreneurship.
He also urged students to uphold the institution’s values of sincerity and excellence in their careers, assuring continued institutional support.
The event concluded with a strong message on empowering students and fostering innovation alongside inclusive growth.
