Collector Inaugurates Government Bus Tyre Retreading Unit In Tiruvannamalai

District Collector K. Tharbargaraj inaugurated the Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar Centenary Government Bus Tyre Retreading Unit established by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation at Motur in Kalasapakkam taluk of Tiruvannamalai district.
The facility, set up at a cost of about Rs.1.02 crore, has been established to recondition and repair tyres of government buses operating in the Tiruvannamalai region, thereby improving the efficiency of transport services.
Kalasapakkam MLA P.S.T. Saravanan presided over the event.
On the occasion, the Collector also flagged off a women’s morning bus service and a suburban bus service that will operate from Polur bus stand to Pattiyanthal via Adamangalam Pudur.
Speaking at the function, the Collector said the tyre retreading unit was established in line with the guidance of the Chief Minister and the directions of the State Transport Department to strengthen public transport infrastructure.
He noted that earlier, tyres of government buses operating in the Tiruvannamalai region had to be sent to the Vellore zone for retreading work. With the new facility now functioning within the district, transport operations would become more efficient.
The Collector also said that around 24.29 lakh women benefit every month from the Vidiyal Payanam scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government, which provides free bus travel for women, and added that transport services in Tiruvannamalai district continue to function effectively for public welfare.
District Rural Development Agency Joint Director and Project Director R. Mani, Rural Development Department Executive Engineer Elango, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Villupuram) Tiruvannamalai zone general manager Sridharan and other officials attended the event.
