In view of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly General Elections 2026, District Election Officer and District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru conducted a training session for teams led by Assistant Expenditure Supervisors at the District Collectorate in the Nilgiris district.
The training focused on monitoring election expenses of political parties and candidates following the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. Various committees, including Flying Squad Teams, Static Surveillance Teams, Video Surveillance Teams, Video Viewing Teams, Accounting Teams and Complaint Monitoring Committees, participated in the session.
Officials were instructed on maintaining proper video surveillance records, verification of accounts, accurate documentation and timely reporting as per Election Commission guidelines. Emphasis was laid on the correct use of prescribed forms and procedures to ensure transparency and accountability in election expenditure monitoring.
The Collector advised all officials to clearly understand the guidelines issued by the Election Commission and to seek clarifications wherever necessary to ensure effective implementation of election duties.
The training covered teams from Assembly constituencies including Udhagamandalam, Coonoor and Gudalur in the Nilgiris district.
Somasundaram, Assistant Director (Audit), Local Fund, and Balachandran, Assistant (Accounts) at the Collectorate, along with other officials, were present.
