A college student was arrested for allegedly attacking a government bus conductor who asked him to buy a ticket near Denkanikottai in Krishnagiri district.
Police said the incident occurred on a government bus operating from Denkanikottai bus stand to Kallupalam village on Thursday evening. The bus was driven by Velan, while Saminathan (39) was working as the conductor.
After the bus departed from Denkanikottai, Saminathan began issuing tickets to passengers. When he asked a college student who had boarded the bus at the bus stand to purchase a ticket, the student reportedly refused.
As the bus was travelling towards Anniyalam village on Thali Road, the conductor again asked the student to take a ticket. Angered by this, the student allegedly punched the conductor in the face, questioning why he was being asked to buy a ticket.
Saminathan sustained injuries to his mouth and began bleeding, which led to an argument between the two inside the bus.
Following the incident, the conductor took the student to the Denkanikottai police station and lodged a complaint. Police registered a case and arrested the student.
The injured conductor was admitted to the Denkanikottai Government Hospital for treatment. The incident created commotion among passengers travelling on the bus.
