Comedian held for remarks on Pawan Kalyan and Ram Charan

Stand-up comedian Anudeep Kadigala has been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Police for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party founder Pawan Kalyan and actor Ram Charan.
According to police sources, Anudeep was detained in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where he had gone to visit his parents.
He was initially taken to a local police station in Prayagraj and later brought to Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh by train.
The action follows the circulation of a video clip from a recent programme titled The Tollywood Roast Show, in which Anudeep allegedly made comments concerning Pawan Kalyan’s personal life and Ram Charan.
The video went viral on social media, triggering strong reactions.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Jana Sena Party member Pate Venkata Krishna, who alleged that the comedian’s remarks were defamatory and obscene.
Police have booked Anudeep under relevant sections pertaining to defamation and publication of objectionable content.
Anudeep Kadigala, an IIT graduate, is known for his role in promoting Telugu stand-up comedy in Hyderabad.
He is also the founder of Chilly South Comedy, regarded as one of India’s first Telugu stand-up comedy groups.
