The Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology (COXBIT) of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) showcased its cutting-edge biotechnology innovations and vibrant start-up ecosystem at the Tamil Nadu Global Startup Summit (TNGSS) 2025, held on October 9 and 10 at CODISSIA, Coimbatore.
With the theme “Driving Innovation for a Sustainable Future,” COXBIT highlighted its advanced research initiatives and strong Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model supporting emerging biotech enterprises. The Centre’s core research focuses on enzyme and biomolecule engineering, bio-based formulations, phytohormone synthesis for fruit ripening, plant growth-promoting compounds, and bio-inputs that foster sustainable agriculture.

The COXBIT pavilion drew large crowds of entrepreneurs, students, and industry professionals. Visitors appreciated the Centre’s contributions in bridging academia and industry through technology transfer, incubation support, and collaborative research opportunities.

A major highlight was the participation of COXBIT’s incubated startups: Nature Mills (cold-pressed oils), INSILICOMICS (omics and bioinformatics), Leaders Desk (soft-skill and entrepreneurship training), V R Boom (electric mobility for agriculture), Pechi Foods Pvt Ltd (traditional masala blends), Adams India (AI-based agri-solutions), Sherpa Biotech (mushroom spawn), Valyria Visions (AI-powered seed breeding), Meridian Machine Works (coconut dehusking machines), Oneomics Pvt Ltd (saliva testing kits), Ziwwit Sustainable Technologies Pvt Ltd (microgreens and sprouts), Thennaivanam (natural cosmetics and ecotourism), SS Techlogix (AI analytics), Sakthi Fertilizers (organic inputs), Engro Carbon Energy Pvt Ltd (biochar), Aviva Enterprises (traditional rice and millets), Anga Information Technology Pvt Ltd (clinic management), Univzero Technologies Pvt Ltd (waste management), Halal Agro Products (nanotech-based growth promoters), Skandax Nexus Pvt Ltd (carbon credit solutions), and Prarthana, student entrepreneur from Nehru College (mushroom-based snacks).
Their innovative displays earned widespread praise from visitors and industry representatives, reaffirming COXBIT’s role in nurturing biotechnology-based entrepreneurship. Around 30 startups have also expressed interest in collaborating with COXBIT for future research partnerships.
