CS Howlers, the school band of CS Academy, Coimbatore, has secured the first runner-up position in the national-level Yamaha Music Competition, competing against more than 270 school bands from across India.
The band progressed through several rounds to enter the Top 20, advance to the Top Five finalists and ultimately finish second nationally. The achievement is particularly notable as the band was formed in 2024, when its members were just 11 years old. The students also had the opportunity to perform before Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
Under the guidance of their band coach, CS Howlers has developed its musical skills, creativity and teamwork. The band has won the Furtados Band-It National-Level Music Competition twice consecutively. It secured second place at the GSIS Class of Chords Competition in 2025 and emerged as champions in 2026.
The students have performed at public events and live music platforms, including Glee Social and Starbucks in Coimbatore in 2024, Global Pathways Schools in 2026 and EUPHONY – Live in Concert at CS Academy, Erode, in 2026.
Beyond live performances, the band has explored songwriting, composition, arrangement and music production. It released its original song, “Wake Up,” in 2024 and its own arrangement and recording of “Feeling Good,” accompanied by a music video, in 2025.
The national recognition marks another milestone for CS Howlers and CS Academy, highlighting the musical talent and creative potential of young students.
