Daughter tramples and assaults elderly mother with sandal

A shocking incident from Dakshina Kannada district has gone viral after a video surfaced showing a woman dragging, trampling and assaulting her elderly mother with a sandal inside a Gram Panchayat office near Mangaluru.
The mother and daughter, residents of Shivanagar under Mudushedde Gram Panchayat, had been quarrelling frequently over family issues. Earlier, the elderly woman had filed a complaint against her daughter at the Kavoor Police Station, where both were counselled and sent home. Despite the intervention, the disputes continued.
A few days ago, the elderly woman visited the Mudushedde Gram Panchayat office to lodge another complaint. On learning this, her daughter arrived there and confronted her. A heated argument broke out, during which the daughter dragged her mother out of the office, kicked her, trampled her and pushed her to the ground. Even after the old woman fell, the daughter continued to assault her repeatedly, including hitting her with a sandal.
The elderly woman sustained minor injuries. People present at the Panchayat office intervened, separated the two, and helped the mother to safety. The violent scene caused commotion in the office.
A bystander recorded the incident on video and uploaded it to social media, where it has since gone viral. Many viewers have strongly condemned the daughter’s behaviour toward her aged mother.
No police case has been registered so far. Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy stated that legal action would be taken if the elderly woman files a complaint and added that those who circulated the video may also face inquiry.
