Death sentence awarded in sexual assault case of three minor girls

A Special POCSO Court in Tirunelveli on Friday sentenced a man to death in connection with the sexual assault of three minor girls in Melapalayam in 2023.
The case was registered by the Palayamkottai All Women Police Station, following complaints that the accused had sexually assaulted three minor girls in the area.
Police later arrested Ananda Shekar in connection with the case.
The trial was conducted at the Tirunelveli District Special Court for cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
After hearing the case, the court pronounced the death sentence for the accused on Friday.
The court also directed that compensation of Rs.7 lakh each be provided to the three victims. Police officials said the case was investigated and charges were filed promptly, leading to the conviction of the accused in the POCSO court.
