A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra has sentenced a husband, his father and brother to death in a shocking double murder case reported in 2022, bringing an end to a prolonged trial.
The convicts, Gaurav, Madan and Abhishek, were found guilty of murdering Gaurav’s wife Pooja and her relative Shivam Sisodia. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh each on the three.
According to the prosecution, the incident took place on May 27, 2022, in the Etmadpur area. The accused suspected an alleged relationship between Pooja and Shivam, who was a frequent visitor to their house due to family connections.
On the day of the incident, the two were allegedly dragged out of the house, beaten with sticks and later killed by slitting their throats with a sharp weapon.
After the murders, Madan and Abhishek surrendered at the police station, while Gaurav was found near the body. Police recovered the weapon used in the crime along with other evidence.
The case was supported by 14 witnesses, CCTV footage and key testimonies. The convicts showed no reaction to the verdict and said they would challenge it in the High Court.
