The Delhi Tamil Advocates Association has sought urgent intervention from the Tamil Nadu Government to trace Justice V. Sivagnanam (Retd.), Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court and former Judge of the Madras High Court, who has reportedly remained untraceable in Nepal.
Justice Sivagnanam, who was designated Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court with effect from July 23, 2025, had travelled to Nepal with a group of Tamil pilgrims. A group photograph taken during the journey reportedly confirms his presence with the pilgrims.
According to the association’s appeal, Justice Sivagnanam spoke to his wife over WhatsApp during the early hours of August 26, 2026. There has been no further communication from him since then, causing serious concern among his family members and colleagues.
The association said pilgrims travelling in another bus, who were rescued near the Armed Police Force Nepal Border Outpost at Timure, reported that Justice Sivagnanam’s bus was only about 100 to 200 metres away from them.
The association has appealed to R. Sathish, IAS, Commissioner, Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils and Rehabilitation, Government of Tamil Nadu, to forward the matter to the Government of India and other concerned authorities and take immediate steps to ascertain Justice Sivagnanam’s safety and whereabouts and facilitate his safe return.
The appeal was made under the guidance of Patron President Justice S. Nagamuthu (Retd.), Senior Advocate, and President P. V. Yogeswaran, Advocate-on-Record. It was signed by Dr. Ram Sankar, Secretary, Delhi Tamil Advocates Association.
