Tiruvannamalai District Collector Vandhana Garg inspected special field activities being carried out to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases in the district on Tuesday.
The district administration has intensified measures to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, including removing stagnant water, applying larvicides and carrying out fogging operations.
As part of the campaign, 90 dengue mosquito-larvae surveillance workers deployed by Tiruvannamalai Corporation carried out preventive activities across the District Collectorate campus. The Collector inspected the work and reviewed the measures being taken.
Field workers have been instructed to create awareness among residents on removing stagnant rainwater from cement tanks, old tyres, coconut shells, flower pots, plastic containers, drums, pots and bottles.
People have also been advised to keep water containers covered, regularly check rooftops and surrounding areas for stagnant water and clean their premises at least once a week.
The Collector directed officials to advise people with fever to avoid self-medication and seek treatment at the nearest government hospital.
District Revenue Officer A. Sivasubramanian, District Health Officer Dr. Venkataraman, Corporation Commissioner Balasubramanian and other officials were present.
