A zonal-level consultation meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls 2026 was held today at the Tiruvannamalai District Collectorate, chaired by Bhanu Prakash Yeturu, Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India.
The meeting took place in the presence of Archana Patnaik, Chief Electoral Officer and Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, and K.K. Tiwari, Director, Election Commission of India. The session reviewed the progress of the ongoing voter list revision process across seven districts — Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, and Tirupattur.
The meeting was attended by K. Tharpagaraj, District Collector, Tiruvannamalai; C.P. Aditya Senthil Kumar, District Collector, Cuddalore; R. Sathish, District Collector, Dharmapuri; S. Dinesh Kumar, District Collector, Krishnagiri; Sheikh Abdul Rahman, District Collector, Villupuram; M.S. Prashanth, District Collector, Kallakurichi; and K. Sivasoundaravalli, District Collector, Tirupattur. Also present were L. Ambika Jain, Sub-Collector, Cheyyar; Rajkumar, Revenue Divisional Officer, Tiruvannamalai; Siva, Revenue Divisional Officer, Arani; Thiagarajan, Tahsildar (Elections); and other senior officials from the Revenue and Election departments. During the review, Deputy Election Commissioner Bhanu Prakash Yeturu inspected the district-wise progress reports and discussed strategies to strengthen the voter roll updating process.
He emphasized the need for accuracy, transparency, and inclusiveness, ensuring that every eligible voter is listed and that errors or duplications are completely eliminated.
Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik underscored the importance of field verification and public awareness initiatives to encourage eligible citizens to verify and update their electoral details. She instructed officials to make effective use of booth-level officers to maintain accuracy in the voter rolls.
The meeting concluded with directions to all district administrations to complete the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 within the stipulated time frame, in line with the Election Commission’s standards of transparency and integrity, ensuring a comprehensive and error-free electoral roll across the participating districts.
