Development projects worth Rs192.73 lakh were inaugurated today in the North and East zones of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation in the presence of M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, IAS, Commissioner, Coimbatore Corporation, and Dr. Ganapathy P. Rajkumar, Member of Parliament for Coimbatore.
As directed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, various civic infrastructure projects are being implemented across the five zones — East, West, North, South, and Central — of the Coimbatore Corporation to enhance public amenities.
Under this initiative, the foundation stone for the construction of an art hall at Ganapathy Government School in Ward No. 30 of the North Zone was laid under the MP Constituency Development Fund at an estimated cost of Rs30
lakh.
Following this, under the Corporation’s General Fund, the following projects were launched: reconstruction of rainwater drainage in Soudhambika Nagar area of Ward No. 11 at a cost of Rs 39.40 lakh; reconstruction of the Integrated Child Development Project (ICDP) building at Saravanampatti, Karattu Medu, Kandasamy Nagar in Ward No. 4 at a cost of Rs15 lakh; laying of the main water supply pipeline from Kumaraguru Nagar to Greenfield Emerald at a cost of Rs12.50 lakh; reconstruction of the ICDP building at Chithra Nagar, Hospital Road in Ward No. 10 at a cost of Rs 15 lakh; and reconstruction of rainwater drainage in Thanthai Periyar Nagar at a cost of Rs35 lakh.
In the East Zone, the MP inaugurated the construction of a fair price shop at Gold Wins, Poombukhar Nagar in Ward No. 23 under the MP Fund at a cost of Rs 23.23 lakh, and the construction of a Health Inspector’s room and Ward Office building at Madhusudhan Nagar under the Corporation’s General Fund at a cost of Rs 22.60
lakh.
Altogether, projects worth Rs 192.73 lakh were inaugurated today in both zones.
Among those present were Chief Engineer Vijayakumar, Zonal Chairpersons V. Kathirvel (North) and Lakkumi Ilanchelvikarthik (East), Assistant Commissioners Maheshkanagaraj and Ramkumar, Executive Engineer Karuppasamy, Assistant Executive Engineers Sathyamoorthy and Ezhill, and Councilors Charanya, Palanisamy (A) Siravai Siva, Kathirvelusamy, Maniyan, and Ponnusamy.
Also present were Zonal Health Officer Murugan, Assistant Engineers Sakthivel, Nassar, and Kumar, Health Inspectors Bhaskar and Lokanathan, and Corporation officials.
