Devotee killed two injured as roof collapses at Samayapuram temple

A 32-year-old woman devotee died and two others were injured after a portion of the roof collapsed at the Samayapuram Mariamman Temple near Tiruchirappalli on Sunday.
The deceased, Nadia from Thiruvaiyaru, had come to the temple along with relatives Ranjani, 35, and Pappiksha, 14, for the ongoing flower-pouring festival. They were resting in the entrance mandapam when the concrete roof suddenly gave way.
Ranjani and Pappiksha sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Tiruchirappalli Government Hospital. Police and rescue teams reached the spot immediately and shifted the body for post-mortem.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Temple authorities have sealed the affected area and diverted devotees through alternate entry points.
