Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan released a commemorative postage stamp and first-day cover marking the 75th anniversary of Tamil daily Dinamalar at an event held at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai.
Dinamalar was founded in 1951 at Thiruvananthapuram by T. V. Ramasubbaiyer. Addressing the gathering, Radhakrishnan praised the newspaper’s 75-year journey and its commitment to truth, neutrality and public service.
He said maintaining a newspaper with impartiality was challenging and described Dinamalar as a “touchstone of truth”.
He also highlighted the importance of encouraging the younger generation and appreciated the newspaper’s Pattam publication for promoting general knowledge, language skills and scientific awareness among school students.
The Vice-President said Dinamalar had grown from its beginnings in Thiruvananthapuram into a newspaper read by Tamils across several cities in India and abroad. He expressed confidence that the newspaper would continue to hold a significant place in the hearts of Tamils for generations to come.
The function was attended by several political leaders, public representatives, officials and other dignitaries.
