DMDK to align with DMK for the first time?

The DMDK members observed the 2nd death anniversary of DMDK founder Captain Vijayakanth with a Guru Pooja yesterday. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers E.V. Velu, M.Subramanian and others paid homage in his memorial.
Premalatha Vijayakanth was not present when Seeman paid his homage. But when Udhayanidhi Stalin arrived, Premalatha Vijayakanth, Vijaya Prabhakaran, Sudheesh and Shanmuga Pandian were all present. Within minutes of Udhayanidhi Stalin garlanding the statue of Vijayakanth and paying his respects, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin posted on his X page that he was remembering Vijayakanth.
With the assembly elections just a few months away, political commentators believe that these events confirm the growing closeness between DMK and DMDK. There was already talk of Premalatha Vijayakanth holding alliance talks with DMK.
Since its inception, DMDK has never formed an alliance with DMK. In 2016, it was expected that DMDK would form an alliance with DMK, but Vijayakanth formed a third team. This has raised expectations that DMDK will form an alliance with DMK for the first time in its history. In a situation where DMDK has been invited to join the NDA alliance, Premalatha Vijayakanth has said that she will announce her decision on January 9th.
