DMK cadres will not fear raids: Stalin

DMK president and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has criticised the TVK government over vigilance raids at locations linked to former minister K.N. Nehru and other DMK functionaries, asserting that even the party’s grassroots cadres would not be intimidated by the searches. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) began searches at more than 20 locations across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai and Nehru’s residence in Thillai Nagar, Tiruchi, from 7 a.m. on Thursday. The searches follow the Madras High Court’s permission to proceed with an investigation into alleged irregularities involving appointments and contracts worth Rs. 634 crore in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department during the previous DMK regime.DVAC officials also searched the residence of former Anaikattu MLA Nandakumar in Vellore. In a post on X, Stalin accused Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of using raids and public outreach events to divert public and media attention from issues affecting the State. He criticised what he described as selective targeting of former DMK ministers and termed the action “vendetta politics”.Stalin alleged that the raids were being conducted for political publicity and said the DMK would continue to expose what it considers failures of the TVK government. He also criticised the government over law and order, administration and rising prices, asserting that the searches would not deter DMK workers from raising issues against the ruling party.
