DMK victory certain in Polls: Minister Sekhar Babu

Minister and DMK Chennai East District Secretary P.K. Sekhar Babu on Friday expressed confidence that the DMK will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters after attending a meeting of Villivakkam Welfare Association organised in support of DMK candidate Karthik Mohan, contesting from Villivakkam constituency, Sekhar Babu said the party is certain to win the April 23 polls.
“DMK is sure to win the Assembly elections. No political party can stop our victory,” he said.
He added that the government’s welfare schemes have effectively reached the people and highlighted several development initiatives undertaken in North Chennai.
“The people of North Chennai will recognise the achievements of the M.K. Stalin-led government and extend full support to the DMK,” he said.
Sabareesan and Senthamarai also participated in the meeting. Sabareesan later told reporters that the DMK would return to power with a clear majority and asserted that there is no strong competitor for the party.
His direct participation in a DMK event for the first time has drawn attention in political circles.
The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4. The last date for filing nominations is April 5, scrutiny will take place on April 7, and April 9 is the deadline for withdrawal.
The main contest is expected to be between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance.
