DMK MLAs staged a walkout from the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Monday, alleging that they were denied an opportunity to speak after Chief Minister Vijay’s reply.
Chief Minister Vijay delivered his reply on the Police, Fire and Rescue Services Department, which is under his charge. During his reply, he also raised allegations concerning corruption involving the DMK.
Following the Chief Minister’s speech, DMK members demanded that the Opposition be allowed to respond. They surrounded Speaker J. C. D. Prabhakar’s chair and raised slogans, creating a commotion.
Chief Minister Vijay then said the DMK members should be allowed to speak. However, the Speaker declined to permit Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin to speak, stating that the DMK members had been attempting to disrupt proceedings from the beginning of the session.
As the DMK members staged a protest inside the House, the Speaker directed the Assembly marshals to remove them. Subsequently, the DMK members walked out of the Assembly.
