At the Pongal festival organized by Erode East MLA V.C. Chandrakumar, prizes including grinders, mixers, gas stoves, and sarees were distributed to the winners of various competitions such as Kolam, Rangoli, Mehndi, embroidery, and vegetable carving.
The Housing Minister distributed the prizes at the event held at the Erode Sengunthar School grounds on Sunday.
Additionally, all participants (approximately 850 women, 30 judges, and volunteers) received sarees worth Rs. 650 each.
The total value of the gifts is around Rs. 10 lakh.
Speaking at the event, the MLA said, “Following the Chief Minister’s directive to celebrate Pongal festivals at the party level in all constituencies, this festival was organized to encourage the talents of women.
Through my ‘Appa Free Computer Centre’, more than 1000 students and housewives have benefited in the past one year,” he added. MPs K.E. Prakash, Anthiyur Selvaraj, and several other DMK functionaries participated in the event.
