More than 100 people were arrested by police after they staged a road blockade near Kalaiyarkoil in Sivaganga district, demanding the arrest of the actual culprits in a double murder case.
The bodies of two young men who were allegedly murdered were found at Kodikkadu Kanmai near Sivaganga on Wednesday, September 16. The incident has caused widespread concern in the district.
Relatives of the deceased and members of the public staged a road blockade for the second consecutive day at Marketpeth in Kalaiyarkoil, demanding that the actual perpetrators be arrested.
More than 300 people reportedly participated in the protest, which continued for over two hours and disrupted traffic in the area.
Police personnel reached the spot and arrested those involved in the road blockade. The arrested persons were taken in police vehicles and kept at a nearby marriage hall.
As protests continued demanding the arrest of the actual culprits in the double murder case, police security has been strengthened in the Kalaiyarkoil area.
