In a shocking incident from Andhra Pradesh, a man who bit off the head of a venomous snake after it attacked him is now battling for his life in hospital.
The incident took place in Chiyyavaram village, Thottambedu mandal, Tirupati district. According to police, Venkatesh (48) was returning home in an intoxicated state after attending the Gangamma Temple festival late at night. On the way, he was bitten on the leg by a snake, identified locally as a black cobra.
Enraged, Venkatesh reportedly shouted at the reptile, grabbed it with his bare hands, and in a fit of drunken fury, bit off its head. He later carried the snake’s carcass home and fell asleep beside it.
By the next morning, his family found him unconscious with the dead snake lying nearby. Alarmed, they rushed him first to the Srikalahasti area hospital and later shifted him to Sri Venkateswara Ruia Government Hospital in Tirupati for advanced treatment. Doctors have confirmed his condition as critical due to the venomous bite and possible infection.
Local residents were left stunned by the bizarre incident. Authorities have urged villagers to seek immediate medical attention in the event of a snakebite, warning that reckless acts like this can be fatal.
