A 19-year-old woman, who allegedly cheated and married eight men using the same pattern, has gone missing in Andhra Pradesh, prompting an intensive police search. The woman, identified as Vani, is a native of Srikakulam district and was raised by her aunt Sandhya. According to police, Vani recently married a man from Karnataka and was travelling with him by train when she reportedly disappeared at Visaningapuram railway station. Believing that she might have gone to her aunt’s house, the husband’s family travelled to Srikakulam but were shocked to find both Vani and Sandhya missing. Subsequent inquiries revealed that Vani had allegedly married at least eight men earlier and cheated them in a similar manner.
Following a complaint from the husband’s family, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials said Vani and her aunt allegedly operated together, marrying men and later fleeing with cash and jewellery.
Police confirmed that both accused are absconding and special teams have been formed to trace them. Authorities are also checking records to identify other possible victims of the marriage fraud.
