A 62-year-old man from Udupi district in Karnataka survived a harrowing ordeal after remaining trapped inside a well for three days before being rescued by firefighters.
Srinivasa Acharya, who lived alone, accidentally fell into a 20-foot-deep well in front of his house on April 4 while cleaning it. Managing to hold on to a motor pump set and a rope inside the well, he struggled to stay afloat and repeatedly called out for help.
With no one nearby to hear his cries, he remained stranded without food for three days, battling for survival.
The incident came to light when his friend Ganesh visited his house on Monday morning. Finding him missing, Ganesh searched the surroundings and eventually looked into the well, where he discovered Srinivasa Acharya in a critical condition.
Fire and rescue personnel were immediately alerted. They rushed to the spot, descended into the well, secured him with ropes and brought him safely to the surface.
Officials said timely intervention helped save his life, and he was later provided necessary medical attention.
