Elephant Herd Waits Patiently For Vehicles To Clear Road In Coimbatore

A herd of more than 10 elephants, including calves, was seen waiting by the roadside before crossing the road at Anaikatti in the Western Ghats near Coimbatore.

The Anaikatti road passes through a hilly forest area where leopards, wild elephants and other wildlife are frequently found. The Forest Department has advised motorists to drive with caution as wild animals may cross the road at any time.

On Wednesday night, the elephant herd attempted to cross the Anaikatti road. As vehicles continued to approach, the elephants waited patiently on the roadside.

After motorists stopped their vehicles on seeing the herd, the elephants slowly crossed the road with their calves. The motorists also waited until the entire herd had safely crossed.

The video of the incident has now surfaced.
