Father allegedly kills youth over teasing daughter

A 38-year-old man was allegedly killed and his body dumped in a drinking water tank following a dispute over the alleged teasing of a girl in Dindigul district.
Sangili Murugan, 38, son of Paulraj and a resident of Sempatti, was reported missing at the Sempatti police station on September 10.
Police registered a case and began an investigation, questioning his relatives and others in the locality.
During the investigation, police received information that Sangili Murugan had allegedly been murdered and his body concealed. Further inquiry revealed that he was taken in a car along the Dindigul road, where he was allegedly killed by slitting his throat.
His body was then allegedly dumped in a Housing Board drinking water tank at Uchappatti near Tirumangalam in Madurai district.

Police arrested three persons — Bakkiya Selvam, Murugan and Maruthupandi — in connection with the murder.
Based on information provided by them, police recovered Sangili Murugan’s decomposed body from the water tank.
Police said their investigation indicated that the murder was linked to an earlier dispute after Sangili Murugan allegedly teased Bakkiya Selvam’s daughter. The incident reportedly led to a confrontation between the two families and subsequently resulted in the murder. The incident has caused tension in the area.
