Father ends life after throwing two children into river

In a horrifying incident that has left the region in shock, a father ended his life after throwing his two young children into the Godavari River in the Lakkavaram area on Wednesday.
The deceased, Durgaprasad (37), hailed from Maligapuram mandal in East Godavari district. He had recently returned home after working in Kuwait. He had married Nagaveni after a love affair, and the couple had two children — Mohit (13) and Janvi (9).
According to police, Durgaprasad took his son and daughter to the Godavari River earlier today. In a tragic turn of events, he allegedly threw both children into the river, causing their deaths. Moments later, he too jumped into the river and died by suicide.
An auto driver who witnessed the shocking scene immediately alerted the police. A police team rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies of all three, and sent them for post-mortem examination.
Authorities are now investigating the circumstances that drove the father to such an extreme step. Preliminary details about the motive are yet to be confirmed.
