In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his two-year-old daughter by feeding her a sapota fruit laced with poison at Lachamma Koodem village in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
Police identified the accused as Ravi, whose wife Swathi had been living separately due to marital disputes. Following differences between the couple, Swathi had moved to her mother’s house with their younger daughter, while the elder child, Meghana, remained with Ravi.
Police said complaints had been filed and talks were underway to resolve the dispute. Frustrated over the situation and fearing separation from his daughter, Ravi allegedly decided to kill the child and end his own life.
He reportedly mixed poison in a sapota fruit and gave it to Meghana, who consumed it. The child died soon after.
Ravi later consumed poison in an apparent suicide attempt and was admitted to a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
