Fire and Rescue Services personnel rescued a lamb that fell into a 40-foot-deep well at Pothanur village near Paramathi Velur in Namakkal district.
Velan, a resident of the Anna Nagar area of Pothanur, rears goats along with his wife Deepa.
On Wednesday, Deepa had taken the goats for grazing in a nearby garden when one of the lambs accidentally slipped and fell into an open well in the area.
Neighbours attempted to rescue the animal but were unsuccessful. Subsequently, the Bugalur Fire and Rescue Services were informed.
Firefighters led by Station Officer Saravanan rushed to the spot.
A firefighter descended into the well using ropes and safely rescued the lamb, which was struggling to survive.
The rescued lamb was later handed over to its owner.
