Three people, including the daughter of a former Madhya Pradesh minister, were killed in a road accident in the State late on Thursday night.
Bala Bachchan, a Congress MLA from the Rajpur Assembly constituency and a former Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, lost his daughter Prerna Bachchan in the accident.
According to police, Prerna Bachchan was travelling in a car along with three of her friends when the vehicle met with a head-on collision with a lorry coming from the opposite direction near the Ranamandal area of Indore district.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the death of three persons, including Prerna Bachchan, on the spot.
Another young woman travelling in the car sustained serious injuries.
Police personnel rushed to the scene after receiving information, rescued the injured woman and admitted her to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered in connection with the accident, and police have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the collision, including the role of the lorry driver.
