Free Helicopter Service Launched For Pregnant Women In Uttarakhand Hills

In a significant healthcare initiative, authorities in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district have launched a free helicopter service to transport pregnant women from remote hill villages to hospitals during emergencies.
The service aims to assist women living in areas with poor road connectivity and difficult terrain, ensuring timely access to medical care during childbirth.
As part of the initiative, a pregnant woman identified as Udina from the Jakkoli area was safely airlifted and admitted to the district hospital.
Officials said the scheme has been introduced to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in hilly regions by providing swift medical intervention. The initiative is expected to benefit several remote villages where access to healthcare remains a major challenge.
Authorities added that the service will play a crucial role in ensuring safe deliveries and improving maternal healthcare outcomes in the district.
