Railway Protection Force personnel seized 24.5 kg of ganja valued at around Rs. 12.25 lakh from a train in Chennai as part of intensified election monitoring.

In a separate incident at Chennai Egmore Railway Station, Railway Police and the Flying Squad seized ganja and Rs. 77,000 in cash from a passenger. Rajesh Kumar, a native of Rajasthan, was detained in connection with the seizure.
Meanwhile, election flying squads conducted multiple checks across the State. In Tiruchirappalli district, Rs. 1.50 lakh without valid documents was seized at Thuraiyur, while Rs. 2.48 lakh was confiscated near Lalgudi.
In Tiruvannamalai district, officials seized silver articles worth Rs. 99,000 near Polur after they were found being transported without proper documentation.
