Giant whale washes ashore in Kerala

A giant whale that washed ashore on Paravur beach in Kollam district on Tuesday was rescued and safely released back into the sea with the combined efforts of local residents, tourists, and officials.
The whale had become entangled in a fisherman’s net before being washed onto the shore. On noticing that the massive creature was still alive, people gathered on the beach and immediately began efforts to push it back into the water. Despite repeated attempts using the force of the waves, the whale remained stranded.
The Coast Guard and Forest Department were alerted and arrived at the spot. The whale lay on the beach for nearly four hours as teams tried various methods to free it.
Eventually, rescuers tied a rope from a boat to the whale and carefully pulled it into deeper waters. After sustained effort, the whale was successfully guided back into the sea, drawing applause from the gathered crowd.
Officials said the coordinated rescue by locals, tourists, and government departments helped save the whale’s life.
