On behalf of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, 25 couples who have crossed the age of 70 were honoured at the Kottai Easwaran Temple.
Housing Minister Muthusamy presided over the event and honoured the couples by giving them silk sarees, dhoties and auspicious items.
The Chief Minister launched a new scheme in Chennai a few days ago on behalf of the Department to honour couples who have crossed the age of 70.
The Minister said:
There are various irregularities in the special revision of the voter list and that is what we are opposing.
The general public should be given sufficient time. We are helping them to complete the registration as much as possible. If the government wants to help in this way, I will talk to the Collector in this regard.
The Chief Minister will participate in various programmes in Erode on November 25 and 26. We will announce later what schemes he will launch.
