GPT Training Boosts Plant Molecular Research at TNAU

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) conducted a three-day training programme on “GPT for Plant Molecular Studies” from March 23 to 25 at the Online Academy Hall of the Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies.
The programme was organised by the Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics under the Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (CPMB&B) and the DBT–Bioinformatics Centre.
The event began with a welcome address by L. Arul, Professor and Head, followed by the presidential address by N. Senthil, Director, CPMB&B, who highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence tools such as GPT in advancing plant molecular research. The chief guest address was delivered by P. Raj Kumar, Dean (Agricultural Engineering), while M. Balakrishnan, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad, delivered the felicitation address.
The training programme featured expert lectures, hands-on sessions and interactive discussions focusing on the application of GPT in plant molecular studies. Participants actively engaged in the sessions, enhancing their technical knowledge and research skills. The programme saw participation from academic institutions, research centres and industry organisations across the country, including TNAU, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam, Palar Agricultural College, Bharathiar University, Bharathidasan University, Annamalai University, Vellore Institute of Technology, Kerala Agricultural University, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Kongunadu Arts and Science College and Rasi Seeds Pvt. Ltd., Salem. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by S. Sridevy, Professor of Computer Science, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, organisers and participants.
