Grand Salute to Legal Excellence at Nirmala College

National Advocates’ Day was marked with honour and pride at Nirmala College for Women (Autonomous), Coimbatore, where the Morning Star Auditorium hosted a distinguished Award Ceremony organised in association with the Jai Hind Foundation – The Fort of Patriotism.
The event brought together eminent members of the legal fraternity to celebrate excellence, integrity and humanitarian service. His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. L. Thomas Aquinas, Bishop of Coimbatore, presided over the ceremony as Chief Guest and underscored the vital role of advocates in upholding justice and democratic values.
The programme commenced with a prayer and the traditional lamp-lighting.
Dr. Aseda Fatima R. welcomed the gathering, followed by felicitations from Rev. Sr. Dr. Kulandai Therese, Secretary, and Rev. Sr. Dr. Mary Fabiola, Principal, who praised the significant contributions of the awardees.
A highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Excellence in Integrity & Legal Ethics Awards to:
• Mr. K.M. Dhandapani, Senior Advocate, Former Public Prosecutor, Coimbatore District Court, and Former Member, Tamil Nadu Legislative Council.
• Mr. T.A. Selvaraj, Senior Advocate, Special Public Prosecutor (Q Branch & ATS), and former CBI Special Public Prosecutor.
Adding to the day’s significance, Mr. V. Nandakumar of Jai Hind Foundation received the Humanitarian Excellence Award from Nirmala College for Women for his dedicated service to society. He also introduced the awardees, highlighting their achievements and commitment to legal ethics. The recipients, in turn, delivered reflective acceptance speeches emphasising their dedication to justice and public welfare.
The presence of Rtn. Gurdip Singh Anand, President, TASK, added further distinction to the ceremony.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Manju Kumari, who acknowledged the dignitaries, foundation partners, staff, students and supporters for making the programme a memorable success.
