Grandmother arrested for pouring Boiling water on 4-year-old boy

A four-year-old boy suffered severe burn injuries after his grandmother allegedly poured boiling water on him during Holi celebrations in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district.
The incident occurred on March 3 in Ward No. 2 of the Aramshin area and was captured on a CCTV camera.

The footage of the incident has since circulated widely on social media, drawing strong reactions. According to police, the child was playing outside his house with a spray bottle filled with coloured water when he accidentally sprayed it on his grandmother, identified as Sindhu Thackeray, who was filling a bucket with hot water. Enraged by the act, the woman allegedly threw the boiling water on the boy.

The child immediately screamed in pain and ran away from the spot. The boy sustained serious burns below the waist and was rushed to a private hospital in Nagpur for treatment. Doctors said he had suffered about 45 per cent burn injuries and is currently under medical care.
In the CCTV footage, the woman is seen carrying a bucket of hot water when the child approaches her while playing with colours.

Shortly after the incident, another woman nearby rushed to the child and poured cold water on him to ease the burns. The grandmother was also later seen pouring cold water on the injured child. Police have registered a case against the woman and further investigation is under way.
