Healthy society foundation for Economic growth, says Collector Tharpagaraj

“A disease-free life is true wealth. A healthy society is the strongest foundation for a nation’s economic and social development,” said Tiruvannamalai District Collector K. Tharpagaraj while inspecting a special medical camp held here on Friday.
The Collector reviewed the 57th Advanced Special Medical Camp organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare under the State government’s ‘Nalam Kaakum Stalin’ scheme at the Government Higher Secondary School in Tiruvannamalai.
During the inspection, Mr. Tharpagaraj observed that rapid urbanisation and changing food habits have led to a rise in lifestyle-related ailments.
He noted that such camps serve as an effective platform for early detection and timely treatment, particularly for conditions linked to unhealthy diets and sedentary lifestyles.
Highlighting the district’s achievements under the scheme, he said 57 camps have been conducted so far, benefiting 76,256 people across the district. Of them, 49,132 underwent free blood tests and 31,739 received free ECG examinations.
More than 5,000 beneficiaries have been assured advanced diagnostic procedures, including scans and echocardiograms, for further treatment.
The Collector distributed nutritional kits to pregnant women and handed over Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme cards to eligible beneficiaries.
He also presented certificates of appreciation to doctors, nurses and medical staff in recognition of their dedicated service.
District Revenue Officer I. Rampradeepan, officials from the Health Department and Revenue Department, and other senior officers participated in the programme.
The Collector urged the public to fully utilise the government’s healthcare initiatives to ensure a healthier Tiruvannamalai
district.
