Heat wave alert: Govt hospitals told to stock ORS

The Health Department has issued a heat wave advisory across Tamil Nadu, urging people to take precautions to prevent dehydration and heat-related illnesses.
All government hospitals and primary health centres have been directed to maintain adequate stocks of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) to handle heat-related cases. The department also announced that ORS will be provided free of cost at these facilities.
In addition, special wards for treating heat stroke cases have been set up in hospitals across the State to ensure timely medical attention.
District health officials have advised the public to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and follow precautionary measures to prevent heat stroke-related complications.
