Hindu couple gets married at Nagore Dargah

A Hindu couple got married at the famous Nagore Dargah in Nagore, Nagapattinam district, in a gesture highlighting communal harmony.
The Nagore Dargah attracts thousands of devotees from Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country every day. People belonging to different faiths visit the shrine, which is widely regarded as a symbol of religious harmony.
The couple’s parents, relatives and friends brought them to the dargah in the morning.
The bride and groom were seated in front of the shrine, following which the groom tied the thali around the bride’s neck.
Nagore Dargah administration and advisory committee chairman Mohammed Khalifa Sahib, along with the couple’s parents, relatives, friends and other visitors, blessed the newlyweds by showering them with akshathai. Though Hindu devotees regularly visit the Nagore Dargah, visitors expressed appreciation to the couple’s families for conducting the wedding at the shrine and described the occasion as a reflection of religious harmony.
