In a landmark medical achievement, Hindusthan Hospital, Coimbatore, has become the centre of India’s longest-ever robotic telesurgery, successfully connecting with SS Innovations International headquarters in Gurugram, New Delhi — a distance of 2,362 kilometres.

Dr. Ramalingam M., Consultant Urologist at Hindusthan Hospital, remotely performed a robotic tailored orthotopic ureteric reimplantation for a 28-year-old patient using the Mantra Surgical Robotic System.
Dr. Senthil assisted on-site in Coimbatore to ensure seamless execution.

The feat demonstrates that distance is no longer a barrier to high-precision surgical care, and highlights the growing potential of secure, long-distance surgical connectivity in India.
Experts say the breakthrough could pave the way for remote surgeries, specialist mentoring, and advanced training in underserved regions as robotic systems become more accessible.
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, MD, Founder & Chairman of SS Innovations International, congratulated the teams involved, calling the milestone a “vital step toward accessible and advanced surgical care for all.”
Dr. Sathish Prabu, Executive Director of Hindusthan Hospital, praised Dr. Ramalingam and his team, noting that the hospital was proud to provide the necessary infrastructure for this historic accomplishment.
With this successful procedure, Hindusthan Hospital strengthens its position at the forefront of India’s expanding robotic surgery network.
