Hotel Employee Held for Making Hoax Bomb Threat to TVK Chief Vijay’s Residence

A hotel employee has been arrested for allegedly making a hoax bomb threat to the residence of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay in Chennai.

Last month, on September 19, a youth managed to sneak into Vijay’s residence despite tight security, creating a major stir. Subsequently, on September 28, the first bomb threat was made to his house, which police later confirmed to be a false alarm.

Amid continued threats, a second hoax bomb alert was reported the day before yesterday at Vijay’s residence. Police teams, along with sniffer dogs and bomb disposal experts, swiftly reached the spot and conducted an hour-long search, confirming that no explosives were found.

Following an investigation, police identified the caller as Shafeeq (37) from Kanyakumari district, who worked at a hotel in Meenambakkam. Investigators revealed that Shafeeq, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, made the threat after hearing that Vijay might visit Kanyakumari for a political campaign, claiming he wanted to prevent a repeat of the Karur incident.

The Chennai police arrested Shafeeq and have remanded him in judicial custody.
