Hundreds of Voter ID Cards Found in Pond Spark Political Row in Madhya Pradesh

A major political controversy has erupted in Madhya Pradesh after hundreds of original voter ID cards were discovered floating in Raja Talab pond at Bijawar town in Chhatarpur district.

According to reports, sanitation workers cleaning the pond found a plastic bag floating on the water. When they opened it, they were stunned to find nearly 500 voter ID cards inside. Officials later confirmed that the cards were genuine and belonged to residents of Ward No. 15. Preliminary findings suggest the cards may have gone missing before being distributed to voters.

The Chhatarpur district administration has launched an official inquiry, and all recovered cards have been secured by local authorities.

Meanwhile, photos and videos showing the bags of voter IDs floating in the pond have gone viral on social media, triggering public outrage and political blame games ahead of the upcoming elections.

Reacting to the incident, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Deepti Pandey said the discovery “proves Rahul Gandhi’s claims about irregularities in the electoral process.”

Chhatarpur District Congress President Gagan Yadav demanded a detailed explanation from the Election Commission, warning that the party would stage statewide protests if accountability is not ensured.
