Husband alerts police after wife checks into hotel with another man

A dramatic incident unfolded near the bus stand in the Nawababad area of Jhansi after a husband alerted police and entered a hotel room where his wife had allegedly checked in with another man, triggering a heated scene that drew public attention.
According to police sources, the couple had been married for three years but had been living separately for nearly one-and-a-half years following marital disputes.
The husband claimed that despite court-mediated reconciliation efforts earlier, the relationship had broken down completely. On January 11, the husband reportedly received information that his wife had gone to a hotel along with another man.
He followed them to the hotel and, suspecting trouble, immediately dialled the police emergency number 112. Police personnel reached the spot and accompanied him to Room No. 103 of the hotel.
When the door was opened, police found the woman inside the room along with another man, who allegedly attempted to hide under the bed on seeing the police. The situation quickly escalated into a heated argument, drawing hotel staff and guests from nearby rooms.
During the confrontation, the woman reportedly told police that she had not been living with her husband for the past two years and described the relationship as a “closed chapter.”
She stated that she had come to the hotel of her own free will and intended to live with the man she was with. She also expressed her willingness to file for divorce.
The husband alleged that his wife, who is employed at a school, had developed a close relationship with another person and had been demanding Rs. 10 lakh from him to agree to a divorce.
He said repeated personal attempts to resolve the issue had failed, causing him severe mental stress, prompting him to approach the police.
Confirming the incident, Nawababad Police Station Inspector Ravi Srivastava said police had responded to an emergency call and intervened to prevent any law and order issue. He said the matter is under inquiry and further action will be taken based on the facts.
