A man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by injecting poison into her body, just four months after their marriage, in Gurugram, Haryana.
The accused, Arun Sharma, a radiologist working at a senior citizen welfare centre, had married Kajal, a nurse employed at the same facility, in November last year following a relationship.
Police said frequent disputes arose between the couple after marriage, with Arun Sharma allegedly harassing Kajal for dowry and money. He is also accused of physically and verbally abusing her.
The incident came to light when the couple visited Kajal’s parental home for the Holi festival. On March 17, an argument reportedly broke out between them when they were alone in the house.
When Kajal’s parents returned, they found her lying unconscious with bleeding from her nose. A syringe was recovered from the bathroom. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Based on a complaint from Kajal’s family, police arrested Arun Sharma. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to killing his wife by administering a poison injection.
A murder case has been registered, and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is under way.
