Husband arrested for murder of pregnant Delhi police commando

A four-month pregnant woman serving as a commando in the Delhi Police was allegedly beaten to death by her husband following a domestic dispute over money, police said.
The victim, Kajal Chaudhary, 27, was attached to the SWAT Commando unit of the Delhi Police.
Her husband, Ankur, worked as a clerk in the Ministry of Defence. The couple reportedly had frequent arguments related to financial issues.
According to police, the incident occurred on January 22, when a heated argument escalated at their residence.
In a fit of rage, Ankur allegedly assaulted Kajal with dumbbells used for exercise, repeatedly striking her on the head.
She sustained critical head injuries and was rushed to hospital.
Despite medical intervention, Kajal succumbed to her injuries last Tuesday.
Her brother, Nikhil, a constable attached to the Parliament Street police station, stated that Kajal was speaking to him on the phone when the assault began.
He further alleged that Kajal had been subjected to continuous harassment by her mother-in-law and two brothers-in-law over dowry demands.
Kajal’s father said the attack resulted in the death of both his daughter and her unborn child, calling it a double murder.
Kajal joined the Delhi Police in 2022 and married Ankur in 2023. The couple has a one-and-a-half-year-old son.
Police have arrested Ankur and remanded him to judicial custody. Further investigation is under way.
