Husband kidnaps actress wife in dramatic car chase

In a shocking incident, a Kannada actress was allegedly kidnapped by her own husband in a dramatic car chase on NICE Road, triggering panic and a police search operation in Bengaluru.
The victim, actress Chaitra, is married to Harshavardhan, a film producer and owner of Darshan Enterprises, Bengaluru. The couple, who fell in love and got married, have a one-year-old daughter.
Due to ongoing family disputes, they have been living separately for some time. Chaitra has been residing in Bengaluru with her daughter and continues to work as a supporting actress in Kannada films.
According to police, Harshavardhan had recently demanded that his daughter be sent with him, but Chaitra and her family refused. Angered by this, he allegedly planned to abduct his wife and use her to force the family to hand over the child.
As part of the plan, Harshavardhan, with the help of his friend Kaushik, allegedly lured Chaitra by offering her a role in a film shooting scheduled in Mysuru.
Kaushik reportedly paid her an advance of Rs. 20,000 and informed her that he would pick her up in a car.
On Monday morning, Kaushik arrived at Chaitra’s residence and took her in the car. While they were travelling on NICE Road, Harshavardhan allegedly arrived in another car, intercepted Kaushik’s vehicle, assaulted Chaitra and forcibly abducted her in his car.
He later called Chaitra’s mother and allegedly threatened her, demanding that his daughter be handed over in exchange for Chaitra’s safe release. Shocked by the call, the mother alerted her other daughter, following which a complaint was lodged with the Bedarayanapura police.
Police have registered a case and launched a search for Harshavardhan.
The incident has caused widespread shock and concern in the city.
