Idli at Rs 315 sparks outrage at Bengaluru airport

A plate of idli priced at Rs 315 at Rameshwaram Cafe inside Kempegowda International Airport has triggered a social media storm, with a passenger questioning the steep airport pricing.
The issue came to light after a Bengaluru-based traveller posted on Reddit that he had paid Rs 315 for a plate of ghee podi idli at the outlet in the airport terminal.
He asked why the same dish costs several times more than in the city and alleged that food items were being sold at nearly four times their regular prices.
The passenger further questioned whether there is any regulatory mechanism to fix food prices at airports and whether travellers have an official platform to lodge complaints over high pricing.
The post quickly went viral, drawing sharp reactions from netizens. Several users criticised the pricing strategy at airport outlets and urged authorities to regulate food costs inside terminals. Airport food pricing has often drawn complaints from passengers, who argue that captive demand and high concession fees push up rates significantly compared to city outlets.
